Documentation / EdgeWatch 0.1 Alpha

Get from a clean machine to a monitored site.

The public documentation covers evaluation and system planning. Pilot customers receive the complete installation package, license, and release-specific guide by email.

01

Requirements

EdgeWatch runs on a computer inside the customer network. Docker Engine or Docker Desktop with Compose v2 is required for the current preview. The machine must be able to reach the monitored devices over their configured TCP, HTTP, and RTSP ports.

02

Installation

Pilot releases include an installation script, environment template, encrypted credential storage, and an offline license. Installation does not require inbound internet access.

./scripts/install-docker.sh

After the services pass their health checks, open the local address printed by the installer and sign in with the generated administrator password.

03

Add the first site

Create a site, then add devices individually or use the included CSV template. Start with reachability and RTSP checks. Enable unchanged-scene detection only after observing the real camera and scene because a genuinely static view can resemble a frozen stream.

04

Configure alerts

EdgeWatch supports generic JSON webhooks, Slack, Microsoft Teams Workflows, and SMTP notifications. Debounce and recovery settings keep short network interruptions from becoming noisy incidents.

05

Remote support

Administrators can export a sanitized support bundle containing runtime health metadata. Device addresses, credentials, thumbnails, database contents, and encryption keys are excluded.
